Be humble, be real, and you will be yourself. The only person who needs to know that you matter is yourself. Then you won't care if other people think you matter.
We often place successful individuals on pedestals, forgetting their fundamental humanity. Everyone experiences the same basic human conditions regardless of their status or achievements.
Franco, your perspective is truly refreshing. We're fortunate to have your influence in our lives, as you provide these powerful reminders about humility. Your ability to cut through pretense and remind us of our shared humanity helps heal parts of ourselves that needed this grounding perspective.
Thank you for bringing this authentic wisdom into our lives.
So very true. In my youth, I harbored a secret desire to become famous, but that has slowly been overtaken by the realization that obscurity is much more likely. It doesn't even bother me anymore ... most of the time.
it's not within out complete power to try to be famous, so we might as well enjoy the best parts of our life and not worry about the rest. Thanks for the thoughtful comment, Wendy :)
Just this week I was in anguish over the fact that I don’t think I’ll ever be a normal adult. My friend said, “No, you won’t, and that’s why we love you. There’s plenty of other normal adults in this world.” Making the point, I’m no better, no worse than anyone. I’m just me and that’s okay. I think that’s a good affirmation when the overthinking settles in.
It’s both sobering and refreshing. Lovely reading. 🫶🏻 We are only significant to our loved ones…and maybe some random people who vaguely remember us. 🤣🥰
This was the best I can't even say. I remember this poem and it's always been one of my favorites of yours. It's something I struggle with= staying motivated while toiling away in obscurity. But it's the action and the work that matters not how many people know your name. Outstanding reading too by the way. Kudos
The whole value of our uniqueness and importance is just exactly what we must sacrifice for other unique and important humans. I feel like even those shitheads that came before we are worthy of being remembered. Awesome poem!
From one loser to another: Thank you! And you are so right. We must get out of our own heads enough to see that we're all in this together. I've been a poser my whole life. Desperately trying to not be what I really am. It's silly. Maybe tragic. Must be a part of our animal selves somehow.
Yeah, Its very tiring having to pose all the time, but we're taught to act more confident and important than we are in the grand scheme of things. But it's exhausting. Thanks for your insights Ted.

you said it right there, Polly. Be real, be yourself. Humility goes a long way.

The world has enough normal adults. We need more people being what they wanna be. People accepting themselves. ❤️
