I'm reminded of Kierkegaard's..."Life must be understood backwards". I find myself doing more of that and finding the value in it, as I get older.

The way I interpret it is in the realization that many of the mistakes I made in the past led indirectly to the best parts of my life today. If I hadn't made those mistakes back then, I wouldn't have the things I value most today. Your short poem has a lot of meat on it, brother.

Reminds me of the last line of The Laughing Heart by Bukowski. Where he says your life is your life, know it while you have it. This is an extension of that. Your life has good in it, know it while you have it. Well done Franco.

Future me has a sneaky habit of making even the annoying bits look precious once they’re gone. I don’t want her to be the first one who notices what I had. Maybe I can catch one ordinary thing today, while it’s still making a mess and testing my patience, and be fond of it now.
