the worst is the waiting
but what is it you’re waiting for?
for the seas to part…
for the gate to open…
for the heralds to tell you what to do?
you already know what to do
you’re doing it
you’ve been doing it
the race has started
and everyone knows
the track goes around in circles
you say the worst is the waiting
not when you’re just hoping for
validation…
or some false sense of certification…
the worst part is the feeling
that you needed it in the first place
to even start —
it’s that hesitation,
that disbelief in yourself,
that lie you live where you think
you don’t have what it takes,
that it has to be a secret wish,
the one you tell yourself at night
that’s too fragile to be spoken of
in the day when anyone around you
might just laugh and end it all for you…
listen, you have to begin where you are
and don’t look for the answer to come
from someone else…
don’t listen for the yes,
don’t stay frozen…
light yourself up
