Just got your book on Kindle. Well put: "I'm just saying we should be careful about the stories we make up to justify the unfair and utterly bullshit systems that keep honest people struggling... the facts say, if you grow up poor, there's a 90 percent chance you'll become a poor adult"

thank you! That’s a great pull right there. definitely captures the struggle at the heart of the book. Thank you for purchasing it, Ted. I appreciate you, my friend.

i relate to your story; was brought up much the same way. so it's wonderful to see this in the world.

Yes, the more people I talk to, the more I realize how ingrained the protestant work ethic is, and how harmful it can be, especially to creatives. Thanks for the support, Marie. It's good to know people can relate.

ironically my family is catholic.. but yes. creativity was for other people, not for me. work was for me. suits and heels and being satisfied with whatever my parents were satisfied with. and ironically the woman who taught me all this was herself a stymied creative miserable in an office job. its' hard to break that cycle. i would have started writing seriously a lot sooner had I the material and emotional support. it's frustrating to think about wasted time but i'm doing what i want now.

oh yes, my family is catholic too. this work ethic thing has spread far and wide lol. it's mostly an American thing now. same...I was actively discouraged from creative writing in high school, it was kinda crazy and sad. same here, I would have started way sooner if it weren't for this. but we are doing it now, and that's important. we've found our way.
