what can we do when all we want
is to be recognized
and acknowledged
for the brilliant things we do,
for how smart we are
for our hidden talents,
for the way we see
through the facades
of fabrication and overconfidence
we’re all hidden assets
waiting to be found
and the ones who are,
so often aren’t any better,
aren’t particularly worthy
of the adulation most desperate souls
so tragically seek
we’re all a little lost,
waiting to be discovered
praying that the next shining bulb
floating above our heads
will be seen by at least someone
other than ourselves
we’re all daydreamers,
all-day dreaming,
sweat-brows gleaming
and fantasizing of a life where
the things that mean the most to us
mean as much to the ones we love
and the strangers on the streets
as they do to our tired hearts
for so long we cry out
streams of lonely, misunderstood tears
in the depths of tortured nights,
rolling around on soaked sheets,
hoping our eyes will close
on their own
before the honest light peeks through
the blinds
and another day of searching
and wanting
smacks us in the face
Garbage Notes:
To put it simply, this piece is about having an ambition to be great at something. It’s about wanting others to acknowledge you for the things you do best. Not necessarily the thing you do for ‘work’ or for money. But the thing you do that’s closest to your heart.
We don’t get to live forever. But in an advanced technological world such as ours, it is possible for our ideas to live forever. It’s why we dream. It’s why we write. It’s why we sing, play, act, dance, or do anything creative in the first place.
We want the world to know who we are. We want our light to be seen. I know I do. I know the very act of putting pen to paper is part of the fight—part of the battle of each day, showing my light. And hoping that light inspires you.
The creative life can be lonely, tortured, and at times full of unrequited passion and unspoken devastation. Day in and day out. But we fight on…
Each night, we lay our heads down to dream again. Until that morning light peeks through the blinds and we find ourselves with another chance to do something that might last forever.

Strive for recognition - so real! From a smart remark we made to a meal we cooked or a poem we wrote… The desire to be seen and acknowledged is present in everything.
Love this one:
we’re all daydreamers,
all-day dreaming
I’m happy I’ve discovered you, Franco! Thank you for your talent and for the spaces to share that you created ♥️
